Exede
Beam 346
Exede’s focus was improving the quality of satellite broadband speeds delivered to rural homes. At the time Exede launched it’s new fleet of satellites into orbit, the average internet speed available to homes was less than 6 mbps.
The new set of beams or “footprints” that this fleet of satellites opened for service were capable of 12-25 Mbps, over 4x what was previously available.
Although far behind the capabilities of wired broadband at the time, this slight improvement enabled rural homes to send email attachments, stream short videos, upload files to the web and other crucial functions that were infeasible with their previous connection.
