Vivint Internet
Pod 1
After effectively suspending most account creation in 2014, Vivint Wireless rebranded as Vivint Internet in 2016 and began developing improved solutions for their network.
The purpose of the project, titled “Pod 1”, was to test new radios capable of delivering speeds of 500 Mbps and a new strategy to improve subscriber density. Over 40 micro-homes were contracted in North Ogden, Utah and approximately 400 subscribers added in just the late summer months of 2016.
The micro-towers in Pod 1 consisted of an upgraded backhaul, two unidirectional radios with a capacity of 12 subscribers, and two dedicated radios, each capable of providing a 500 Mbps connection to one subscriber each.
